The Mining Technology Development Center Site Manager is responsible for the direction and coordination of site support activities at the LME Mining Technology Development Center site. The MTDC Site Manager is responsible for scheduling, planning and task management of activities for equipment assembly and commissioning, facility maintenance and expansion, road maintenance and infrastructure implementation, equipment planning and maintenance, training, customer relations and site consumable and service contracts at the LME Mining Technology Development Center site. This includes daily task prioritization and delegation, adherence to schedules, planning of equipment operation and maintenance, and management of team members who participate on site.

Responsibilities

Provides technical direction and prioritization of site activities undertaken on site.
Directs the maintenance and improvement of Mining Technology Development Center site infrastructure, mobile equipment, mining equipment and test equipment.
Schedules and plans Mining Technology Development Center site areas of operation including haul trucks and support equipment.
Inspection and maintenance of tooling, equipment, rigging, and site.
Provides Mining Technology Development Center investment recommendations for equipment, tools and site infrastructure.
Utilizes the Liebherr ERP system to check parts availability or search for Bills of Materials (BOMs) and engineering drawings.
Parts and Consumables inventory management and planning
Creates detailed task lists and maintains project backlog and planning.
Estimates time and cost requirements for all projects.
Works as a team member with other Technicians, Engineers, designers and product support personnel on ad hoc projects.
Participates in the Product Development Plan.
Coordinates and directs multiple Mining Technology Development Center activities in support of various projects with a diverse list of stakeholders
Able to communicate clearly and precisely, make and present reports or presentations related to site activities to customers (internal or external).
Supervisory Duties:
Directly supervises up to 10 testing specific employees in the Product Validation group.
Trains, mentors, develops team on operating procedures, resolving system malfunctions, and provides technical information.
Responsible for the site direction, coordination and evaluation of Mining Technology Development Center Team.
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work, appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Competencies

Education and Experience: Associate’s degree (A.A.S.) or equivalent from a 2-year college or technical school for engineering technology plus 10 years’ experience as an Engineering Technician; or 12 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to direct activity of Technicians, Mechanics, Operators, and other support roles to achieve the deliverables of the LME Mining Technology Development Center.
Knowledge of financial data and costing procedures.
Knowledge of ERP system as it relates to truck BOM structure and inventory control.
Capable of checking own work and work of others.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute area, volume and weights. Ability to convert from US to metric engineering units.
Skilled in the use of Jira, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Project or similar software packages to summarize preliminary test results and schedule tasks.
Knowledge of heavy equipment systems, maintenance, and repair.
Skilled in the use of data acquisition equipment and sensors to implement a test plan.
Ability to work according to established engineering, company, or customer safety procedures.
Ability to read schematics and install and troubleshoot basic hydraulic and electrical circuits.
Skilled in the operation and use of power and hand tools.
Skilled in the operation of forklifts, overhead cranes, mining & construction equipment.
Ability to handle and dispose of hazardous wastes such as oil, antifreeze, parts cleaner solvent, or similar material.
Knowledge of basic computer operation such as serial or network connections.
Travel domestically and internationally up to 30% of the time.
Ability to obtain and maintain a valid driver license and passport.
Ability to maintain Mine Safety & Health Administration (MSHA) certification.
Ability to maintain forklift, overhead crane, Mining truck, Excavator, Dozer, Motor Grader and any other required operator certifications.
