About the Role:
As an Applications Engineer based in either Perth or Brisbane, you’ll serve as the primary technical expert in mining applications, converting sales opportunities and providing consultancy to customers transitioning to decarbonised mining solutions. You will collaborate with Sales, Technology and Product Management teams to assess, scope, and manage product applications before, during, and after the sales process. From conducting site assessments to providing analytical advice and driving new business opportunities, this role offers a dynamic mix of engineering, strategy, and customer interaction. This is your opportunity to be at the forefront of mining technology, helping customers optimise efficiency and solve operational challenges.
Skills and Duties:
With an immediate start, you will be required to:
- Be the mining systems expert – Serve as the go-to technical resource for internal teams and customers
- Conduct site assessments & engineering evaluations – Provide tailored solutions based on mining data, performance metrics, and productivity analysis
- Support electrification & ZEM adoption – Help mining operations transition to battery-electric and decarbonised technologies
- Identify new market opportunities – Expand Liebherr’s presence by analysing competitor equipment and engaging with new customers
- Collaborate globally – Work with cross-functional teams to develop, test, and implement innovative mining solutions
- Deliver technical consultancy – Provide engineering calculations, cost analysis, and reports that help customers optimise their mining systems
- Improve product applications – Continuously enhance Liebherr’s product performance and customer experience
Requirements:
To be successful in this position, you will have:
- A degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Mining, or a related field) with up to 2 years of industry experience
- Alternatively, candidates without an engineering degree should have at least 5 years of industry experience in mining, heavy equipment, or related sectors
- Exposure to or a strong interest in mining systems, electrification trends, and ZEM technologies is preferred
- Experience with mining software (e.g., RPM TALPAC) and data analysis for mining fleet and productivity evaluations is preferred
- Excellent stakeholder engagement skills – Able to work with customers, engineers, and business teams
- Ability to travel to mine sites to perform engineering evaluations, testing and site assessments
- Previous exposure to heavy mining equipment, particularly trucks, excavators, and dozers
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment medical and drug and alcohol testing.
