Internship/Werkstudent Data Governance & Data Management (m/w/d)

This role is an exciting opportunity to dive deep into the world of enterprise data, learn hands on from seasoned professionals, contribute to global data governance initiatives, and help shape the way data is structured, controlled, and used across the Liebherr Group.
We are looking for a keen graduate student/student who is interested in getting first experience on the job. This is a temporary engagement with a duration of 12 months and must be filled with a workload between 60% and 100%.
Tasks:
Strategic & analytical support:
- Support the alignment of data governance activities with the global data strategy.
- Analyse complex datasets to support decision‑making in data quality, data lifecycle management, metadata management, and data value management.
- Conduct research and benchmarking on industry standards, trends, and best practices in data governance and master data management.
Collaboration & communication:
- Collaborate with Data Stewards, Data Owners, IT colleagues, and other business stakeholders across divisions.
- Prepare concise presentations, data summaries, and communication material for global data governance communities.
- Act as a proactive link between business requirements and technical implementation teams.
Data Quality & Data Operations:
- Support the setup, execution, and documentation of data quality checks and data cleansing activities.
- Assist in improving data quality workflows and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Help maintain metadata, reference data, and data documentation to ensure transparency and traceability.
- Support data valuation initiatives by preparing data for use case build up.
Tools, Technology & Hands‑on Work:
- Work with SQL (or Python/R) to explore, extract, and validate data.
- Perform data profiling, statistical analysis, or automation tasks.
- Gain exposure to enterprise tools such as SSIS, SSMS, Databricks, Azure Data Lake, Power BI, and other components of the global data platform.
- Contribute to knowledge graph modelling initiatives (e.g., Neo4j) as part of data lineage or semantic modelling activities.
Qualifications:
Mandatory:
- Practical experience with SQL (queries, joins, transformations).
- Experience with Python or R for data analysis.
- Strong analytical mindset with the ability to structure complex information.
- (Business) Fluency in English (written and spoken).
Beneficial:
- Initial exposure to data engineering or analytics tools (e.g., SSIS, SSMS, Databricks, Power BI).
- Understanding of data governance, metadata, or master data management concepts would be an asset.
- Experience with knowledge graph technology, especially open source (e.g. Neo4j).
- Conversational German would be an asset.
