Technical Documentation Engineer
The Technical Documentation Engineer will focus on creating high-quality documentation for our mining truck products. This role requires experience in engineering, a strong understanding of mining truck systems and operations, and exceptional technical writing skills. The Technical Documentation Engineer will produce clear, user-friendly manuals, guides, and other technical documentation to support our products.
Responsibilities
- Develop and produce detailed technical documentation for mining trucks, including user manuals, maintenance guides, troubleshooting procedures, and technical specifications.
- Specifies mechanical system, and/or engine system components, or directs modification of truck components to ensure conformance with engineering design and performance specifications
- Works with other engineering teams, product managers, and technical specialists to research and analyze customer design proposals, specifications, manuals, and other data to evaluate the feasibility, and maintenance requirements of designs or applications about mining truck systems
- Reads and interprets maintenance and operators manuals, blueprints, technical drawings, hydraulic schematics, pressure traces, electrical schematics, and computer-generated reports
- Create content for both internal (engineering, maintenance) and external (customer, end-user) audiences, ensuring clarity and accessibility of technical information.
- Maintain and update documentation to reflect product modifications, new features, and industry standards.
- Structure and organize technical content to ensure ease of use and consistency, including diagrams, schematics, and other visual aids where necessary.
- Review and validate technical content for accuracy, ensuring all information is up-to-date and aligned with engineering and manufacturing standards.
- Participate in content strategy meetings to improve documentation processes and content delivery.
- Ensure all technical content complies with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards specific to the mining and heavy equipment industries.
- Provide training to internal teams and end-users on how to navigate and use technical documentation effectively.
Competencies
- Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mining Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field with 3-6 years of related experience.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance manuals, and procedure manuals.
- Proven experience in technical writing or content development, especially in heavy machinery or mining equipment.
- In-depth understanding of mining truck systems and operations.
- Ability to simplify complex technical concepts for diverse audiences.
- Experience with content management systems, documentation tools, and version control software.
- Familiarity with technical illustration tools or collaboration with graphic designers.
- Excellent written communication skills with attention to detail.
- Experience working with cross-functional teams and managing content throughout product development.
- Knowledge of mining industry regulations and safety standards.
- Experience with digital content formats and online documentation platforms.
- Familiarity with CAD software or technical drawing tools.
- Knowledge of heavy-duty vehicle maintenance and service procedures.
- Experience in the mining industry or with large-scale industrial equipment.
- Familiarity with Lean, Agile, or other product development methodologies.
- Ability to manage and prioritize multiple documentation projects.
- Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.
- Ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams.
- Adaptability in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.
- Effective project management skills with attention to detail.
- Proactive and solutions-oriented mindset.
- Travel domestically and internationally up to 20% of the time.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a valid driver license and passport.
