Senior Human Resources Generalist - Liebherr Mining Equipment Newport News Co.
The Senior Human Resources Generalist is responsible for assisting the Human Resources Manager (HRM) in support of business initiatives for the U.S. Liebherr companies and operating divisions. The position establishes partnerships across the HR function to deliver value-added service to management and employees that reflects the business objectives of the organization. The Senior HR Generalist serves as a coach and mentor for other positions in the department. Maintains an effective level of business literacy about the business unit's midrange plans, its culture, and its competition. In addition to enforcing company policies and practices.
Responsibilities
- Employee Relations: Guiding managers in addressing employee concerns and resolving conflicts in a timely manner to foster a positive work environment. Handling workplace investigations.
- Staffing: Assist in administering the staffing function, including interviews, pre-employment test and onboarding process.
- Compensation Review and Negotiation: Lead the process of reviewing and negotiating employee compensation packages to ensure competitiveness and fairness.
- Performance Management: Oversee performance appraisal processes and provide guidance to managers on employee development.
- Training: Provides manager and employee training, including diversity, new employee orientation, policies and procedures.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with company policies and federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
- Immigration Experience: Manage immigration processes, including handling L visas, to support international employees.
- HR Metrics: Analyze HR metrics and provide insights to senior management for strategic decision-making.
- HRIS: Provide support and maintenance of the Human Resources Management System (HRMS) updated.
Competencies
- Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, human resources, or related field required and 4-6 years of related experience in a human resources generalist or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of 4-6 years’ experience resolving complex employee relations issues.
- SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) credential preferred.
- At least 2-4 years’ experience with Immigration preferred.
- Two or more years of mentoring and guiding others preferred.
- At least 3 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
- Experience handling and resolving employee relations issues, conducting investigations in a manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrated experience with compensation and classification, conducting salary analyses and making recommendation.
- Proven ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Proven success working in an HR department, preferably in a generalist capacity.
- Experience advising and informing senior leaders and executives.
- Confident and persuasive public speaker with experience in designing and facilitating high-impact training sessions for employees at all organizational levels.
- Proficiency with MS Office applications and/or the ability to quickly learn the organization’s HRIS and talent management systems.
- Advanced Excel skills to lead the preparation, analysis, and interpretation of HR metrics, providing strategic insights to drive decision-making.
- Working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines, including compensation practices, organizational diagnosis, employee relations, diversity, performance management, and federal and state respective employment laws.
- Travel domestically and internationally up to 10% of the time.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a valid driver license and passport.
- Ability to work a flexible work schedule required to support operations and foreign affiliates.
