The Production Planner is responsible for planning, preparing and managing schedules utilizing a MRP (Materials Requirements Planning) system to ensure execution of a master schedule. Additionally, this position interacts with all departments within the organization to ensure on time delivery of parts to the customers.

Responsibilities

  • Level 1:
  • Create and manage production and rework orders in alignment with the master schedule.
  • Coordinate with manufacturing personnel to ensure schedule adherence.
  • Maintain material flow from warehouse to production; track shortages and expedite parts as needed.
  • Process non-conformance reports (NRs) as required.
  • Review rescheduling messages and adjust to production changes.
  • Prepare and distribute production documentation to relevant departments.
  • Perform basic transactions in ERP/MRP, EDM, WMS, and FPKOMM systems.
  • Assist with cycle counts.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Generate purchase orders for materials, tools, and equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and regulations.
  • Level 2:
  • All duties of Level 1 plus:
  • Troubleshoot operational issues, recommend solutions, and implement corrective actions.
  • Manage NRs in collaboration with quality and production teams.
  • Support change management activities (e.g., attend CIB meetings, process signal codes).
  • Maintain routing terminology, sequencing, drop zones, lead times, and material offsets.
  • Support departmental process improvements and team initiatives.
  • Deliver system training and prepare documentation as assigned.
  • Apply intermediate knowledge of ERP/MRP, EDM, WMS, and FPKOMM systems.
  • Level 3:
  • All duties of Level 2 plus:
  • Manage Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) and Liebherr Floor Stock (LFS) programs.
  • Configure and maintain items qualifying for Statistical Inventory Control (SIC).
  • Lead cycle count activities and inventory accuracy initiatives.
  • Identify bottlenecks or quality issues and recommend improvements.
  • Prepare and present bill of materials (BOM) analyses.
  • Apply advanced knowledge of ERP/MRP, EDM, WMS, and FPKOMM systems.
  • Level 4 (Senior):
  • All duties of Level 3 plus:
  • Serve as key user in ERP systems; support testing and implementation projects.
  • Represent the department in cross-functional initiatives requiring system expertise.
  • Develop and maintain departmental procedures and work instructions.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and new product (truck) projects.
  • Communicate project status to stakeholders and assist with deliveries to 4FV.

Competencies

  • Level 1:
  • Associate’s degree; or 0-2 years related experience/training; or equivalent.
  • Level 2:
  • Associate’s degree; or 2-4 years related experience/training; or equivalent. APICS certification a plus.
  • Level 3:
  • Bachelor’s degree; 4-6 years related experience/training; or equivalent. APICS certification preferred or willingness to obtain.
  • Level 4 (Senior):
  • Bachelor’s degree; 7+ years relevant experience/training; or equivalent. APICS certification preferred.
  • Overnight/extended domestic and international travel up to 5% may be required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a valid driver’s license and passport.
