MRO Buyer
The Maintenance Repair/Operation (MRO) Buyer plans, directs, and manages the procurement of materials, parts and equipment for the organization by performing the following duties. This includes tooling, resources, operating supplies, and services. Responsible for developing strategic sourcing initiatives, optimizing costs, and ensuring alignment with business needs. The position plays a key role in driving efficiencies, negotiating supplier agreements, and providing expert guidance on procurement processes and policies related to procurement.

Responsibilities
Essential Job Duties:
- Coordinates all activities related to procurement of an MRO commodity or a service beginning with the intent to purchase through the delivery of the product/service.
- Continually reviews the Purchase Request System and suggests ways to maximize the efficiency of the System.
- Monitors all Purchase Requisitions to ensure they are authorized and in compliance with company policies.
- Advises and trains staff on the Purchase Request System.
- Develops purchasing strategy for select MRO categories and MRO cost savings projects.
- Experience in supplier and contract management, including negotiation and performance evaluation.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to leverage supplier performance data and procurement analytics to drive decision-making.
- Coordinates Vendor Managed Inventory programs.
- Collaborate with key stakeholders, including EHS, HR, and business units, to understand and support operational and investment needs.
- Analyzes the requirement of the commodity, including specifications, preferred supplier(s) and date the commodity is needed.
- Creates detailed Request for Quote (RFQ) packages for supplier bidding. Evaluates proposals for the requested commodities.
- Investigates and/or interviews potential suppliers in cooperation with team to determine if they meet the specified requirements. Advises team members and/or management on the appropriate supplier to be used.
- Ensures supplier compliance with company requirements regarding safety, insurance and the environment.
- Negotiates the best value cost for the commodity balanced against the optimum quality and schedule needs.
Competencies
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year College or University in a Business related discipline with one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. International procurement experience is a plus.
Additional Requirements:
- Travel domestically and internationally up to 20% of the time.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a valid driver’s license and passport.
