Repair Welder - Crawler Cranes & Foundation Equipment
Perform product improvement welding updates on steel structures for crawler cranes, duty cycle crawler cranes, foundation machines and other components of Liebherr products all over the United States. Fit, weld and repair steel structures and machine components on above mentioned machines. Working with highly sensitive high strength steel. Organize jobsites to perform repairs and / or modifications on his/ her own. Fit, weld and build steel fabrications as needed for and around the Houston workshop. Perform painting of steel structures after executed repairs.

Responsibilities
Essential Job Duties:
- Complete successfully all required weld tests.
- Selects equipment and plans layout, assembly, and welding.
- Lays-out, positions, aligns, and fits components together.
- Performs repairs as per given welding procedure
- Able to hold United States AWS certification
- Able to obtain LWN welding certification
- Bolts, clamps, and tack-welds parts to secure in position for welding.
- Sets up equipment and welds parts, using arc, gas-shielded arc, submerged arc, or gas welding equipment.
- Handles and dispose of hazardous materials.
- Enforce and comply with 6 S procedures and policies
- Preparing for travelling to jobsites (Material, travel organization, etc
- Submit work and picture report in a timely matter.
- Documentation of performed work on a laptop (Work Report, Hour Report, Expense Report, Timesheet).
Competencies
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience in Stick and Mig Welding. AWS certification
Level I
- 0–1 years of welding or fabrication experience
- Technical school or welding certification preferred
- Basic understanding of welding safety and shop practices
- Basic weld quality
- Safe tool handling
- Ability to follow instructions
- Basic measuring and layout skills
Level II
- 1–2 years of welding and fabrication experience
- Experience in heavy equipment, structural steel, or crane manufacturing preferred
- AWS D1.1 Certified Welder
- Demonstrated proficiency as Level I, plus:
- Ability to pass visual weld inspections
- Understanding of heat distortion and weld sequencing
- Moderate blueprint interpretation skills
- Ability to work independently on standard repairs
Level III
- 3–5 years of heavy structural welding experience
- Extensive crane, heavy equipment, or industrial repair experience
- Demonstrated proficiency as Level II, plus:
- Advanced GMAW/SMAW welding proficiency
- Ability to weld in multiple positions
- Strong understanding of metallurgy and preheat requirements
- Ability to identify structural defects and repair solutions
Level IV
- 5+ years of structural welding and crane repair experience
- Leadership or crew lead experience preferred
- Demonstrated proficiency as Level III plus:
- Expert-level structural welding ability
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Advanced blueprint and fitting abilities
Additional Requirements:
- Travel domestically and internationally up to 80% of the time.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a valid driver license and passport.
- Ability to work overtime as well as on weekends or on call duty.
